Salesforce Partners want to grow and succeed and the primary way to do this is to attract and retain clients. Client retention is based on successful implementations and a solid, trusting relationship with between the Partner and the Client.
As Salesforce Partners grow and take on more and bigger clients, it is imperative that their delivery organization has a solid methodology, that the Partner can have confidence in, that will ensure success in each and every implementation. Without su
ch a foundation, project delivery can be hit or miss, with project success based on the skills and experience of the project team members and their relationship with the client.
A highly-skilled team, with a good client relationship, delivering on time and on budget can result in a happy customer and likely, additional work. If the stars don’t exactly align, however, the project can experience challenges (management, functional, technical, quality, etc.), and the relationship with the client, and project success, may be on shaky ground.
Also, as a firm grows, it is important to gain alignment and consistency across project teams. Exercising standards of Delivery Excellence and planning for project success from day one is vital to ensuring happy customers and winning more work. If a client knows you, likes you, understands you, and can rely on you, they are much more likely to continue to work with you. If a client doesn’t understand your processes, or your processes and approach don’t align to that of your client, then the project team is likely challenged from the start.
It is truly tragic the number of times that simple misalignments or misunderstandings can taint a clients’ perception of a vendor, and leave them wanting to just get the project over with and move on.
A firm needs to look at the standard elements of every project: People, Process and Technology, and all three must be in place and working well to be successful.
An effective Delivery Excellence methodology can transform all three of these elements:
People: Building people up with knowledge and skills, holding them accountable to established and transparent KPIs, and promoting their ability to build positive relationships with the client through providing great work.
Process: Providing proven best practices, tools, samples instructions and any other needed guidance to Project Teams to be successful.
Technology: Identifying and implementing transparent, predictable, effective technology to manage projects effectively and to stay in alignment with your client.
When People, Process and Technology are all working together, you can achieve both alignment and assurance in project delivery, and that's a beautiful thing!
